They test the sensations provided by the massage chair, assess them, and make continuous adjustments until the product meets the highest standards of comfort. Their extensive knowledge, gained through hands-on experience with massage techniques such as shiatsu and chiropractic, enables them to create products that faithfully replicate the touch of a human hand, even though they are advanced mechanical devices.

Any massage chair or mechanical device can deliver a basic massage, but even the smallest change in intensity, angle, speed, or other factors can have a significant impact on the overall quality and how the massage is felt. These subtle adjustments are made by the experts, who, thanks to their extensive experience and over 2,000 hours spent using massage chairs, can easily identify these differences.
For instance, a massage using an air cushion to compress the calves requires precise control over the duration of the pressure. This is carefully tested in 0.1-second intervals to determine the most comfortable timing.

This is where the “Meister Team” concept comes in. It brings together employees from different departments within the company, each with varying physical characteristics, genders, and ages, to test the massage chairs. They then share their feedback, and the experts use these insights to refine the products, ensuring comfort for every user.

Although the company’s management may approve the sale of a massage chair, it won’t be released as a new product until the Meister Team is completely convinced of its comfort level, and one of our experts gives their final approval.

What does it mean to be a “Massage Chair Meister”?

A specialist in comfort. Every Fujiiryoki massage chair is created with the approval of a master masseur. As the product development lead, they personally test the comfort offered by the massage chair across various functions, making adjustments to factors such as intensity, angle, and speed to ensure the best experience.

Fujiiryoki works with two experts in the role of “Massage Chair Meister”:

Mitsuaki Fujishiro

Mitsuaki Fujishiro joined Fujiiryoki Co., Ltd. in 1983, and since then, he has been fully committed to the development process, continuously creating innovative and attractive massage chairs. His goal is to bring to life the “techniques of a professional masseur,” while also developing exclusive massage techniques that can only be delivered by a massage chair, constantly pushing their boundaries.
Together with the Meister team he leads, he works daily on evolving and enhancing massage chairs.
He is regularly invited to explain the massage chair manufacturing process and has appeared in several prominent media productions, including TV Tokyo’s “Cambrian Palace,” TBS’s “Gachi-ri Monday!!,” TV Tokyo’s “World Business Satellite,” NHK’s “Salaryman NEO,” as well as in major publications like Asahi Shimbun and Yomiuri Shimbun.

Kentaro Ohide

Kentaro Ohide joined Fujiiryoki Co., Ltd. in 2004, and in 2009, he was transferred from the sales department to product development. As a key member of the Meister team, he has played a major role in the recent development of Kiwami Mecha, the enhancement of Air Magic, and the expansion of automatic programs.
Now, as the second-generation Massage Chair Meister, he has earned the complete trust of Master Fujishiro.
His innovative approach and clear communication have led to multiple media appearances, including on Asahi Broadcasting’s “Ohayou Asahi Desu,” Asahi Broadcasting’s “Imachan no Jitsuwa…,” Yomiuri TV’s “Sumatan!,” NHK WORLD’s “GREAT GEAR,” and in the Nikkei Business Daily.
